MARSHALL, Texas—Posting a perfect regular season record in Ornelas Gym for the third straight year, No. 1 East Texas Baptist University heads to the road one last time before postseason play this weekend. The Tigers will head to Sherman, Texas, to face the University of the Ozarks and Austin College this Saturday, closing out the regular season.

The Tigers won their last two regular-season home matches this past weekend against Austin College and UC Santa Cruz, improving to 27-0. ETBU currently has a 41-match home winning streak, with its last in Ornelas Gym occurring in September of 2022.

Here are the game notes for this weekend's matchup.

The Basics
No. 1/No. 2 ETBU (27-0 overall; 6-0 ASC) is headed to Sherman, Texas, on the campus of Austin College to face The University of the Ozarks (4-17 overall; 2-12 SCAC) and Austin College (16-10 Overall; 9-4 SCAC) on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00p.m.

First Flight with the Eagles
On Saturday, the Tigers will face a former ASC program, but a brand-new volleyball program in the University of the Ozarks. Ozarks joined the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2024 from the ASC, but this is their first year with a volleyball program with a 4-17 record in the inaugural season. The Eagles have beaten common opponents in Centenary and the University of Dallas. This match will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Run it Back
ETBU will close its regular season against Austin College on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The two opponents will face off just eight days after their previous matchup, which ended in a 3-0 sweep for the Tigers. ETBU holds a 16-13 record against the Kangaroos and has not lost to the Roos in over a decade, with their last loss occurring in 2012.

One and Only
The Tigers have earned the number one spot in the NPI poll for the third week in a row. ETBU received 71.594 points staying ahead of La Verne's 70.147 points. This is the highest ranking in the program, ever. The Tigers are still ranked No. 2 in the AVCA Coaches Poll behind La Verne. This is the seventh week in a row at No. 2, receiving 2,073 votes and 18 first-place votes. The Tigers started the season ranked No. 14, then jumped to No. 8, then No. 5, and finally No. 2. Before this season, the program's highest ranking was No. 8, set in 2024.
Protecting the O
ETBU has not lost a regular-season home match in 41 games, with its last home loss coming in September 2022. The Tigers have had three straight perfect regular seasons in Ornelas Gymnasium. This season, they have swept 12 of 13 home matches, posting a 13-0 home record. ETBU has swept 20 of its 27 opponents this season and has only gone to a fifth set, twice, against Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Hardin-Simmons. UWEC is now ranked No. 3 in the NPI with their only losses coming from the Tigers and No. 21 Washington University-St. Louis, while Hardin-Simmons is second in the American Southwest Conference.
