MARSHALL, Texas—Reaching new heights at East Texas Baptist University, the Tigers head to Bloomington, Ill., for the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. They are the American Southwest Conference's first program to reach the Elite Eight.
ETBU made it to Bloomington by defeating Maine Maritime, No. 18 Emory, and No. 14 Tufts in the Medford, Mass., Regional Championship Tournament. The will now face No. 8 Berry College on December 3rd at 4:30 p.m. Central Time in the Shirk Center Arena and can be watched on ESPN+

NCAA Details
No. 1 ETBU (34-0 overall; 8-0 ASC) will face Berry College (27-7 overall; 10-4 SAA) at 4::30 p.m. on Wednesday in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The match will take place in Bloomington, Illinois, on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University. The Tigers have faced and beaten three of the seven opponents remaining in the NCAA Tournament this season with wins over Berry, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and Trinity (TX). ETBU has only dropped 10 sets in the entire season, with four of those sets being lost to three of the teams remaining in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The seeding for this tournament is as follows: 1. Berry Familiar
ETBU and Berry have faced off one time this season in a 3-1 victory for the Tigers at Berry College in the Berry Invite.
Graycee Mosley and Lara Honsby were pivotal in the victory over the Vikings, both recording 17 kills, while
Callie Humphrey recorded 24 digs and
Sydney Temple had 28 assists. ETBU limited Berry to a .172 hitting percentage in The Cage Center.
This will be this team's third time facing each other as ETBU has a 2-0 lead in the series. After the win this year over the Vikings, ETBU faced them in 2009 in Sherman, Texas, winning 3-0. The Vikings have won six in a row, including wins over Trinity in the SAA Championship and Christopher Newport in the Regional Championship, with their last loss coming from Emory College on Nov. 8, an opponent ETBU defeated in the Regional Tournament.

ETBU becomes the American Southwest Conference's first program to advance to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament and win a Regional Championship. Mary Hardin-Baylor (2018) and former members Texas Lutheran (2004) and Texas Dallas (2016) all fell in the Regional Championship. ETBU now has seven wins in the NCAA Tournament which is the most in the ASC surpassing Texas Dallas' six.

Championship DNA
ETBU has appeared in the last four American Southwest Tournaments, winning the last three. Head Coach
Mallory Matthews has made it past the first round of the tournament six times. In 2019 and 2021, Matthews led LeTourneau to the second round. In her first year as Head Coach at ETBU, Matthews led the program to its first championship appearance since 2013. Matthews has won the tournament in a row in 2023, 2024, and 2025, tying the current ASC championship-winning streak held from 2001-2003 by Head Coach Suzanne Wingrove. ETBU is the only Volleyball program to three-peat two separate times in the conference. The Tigers have the most ASC championship wins among current conference members, beating Hardin-Simmons, which has five. Former ASC member, The University of Dallas holds most of the all-time ASC tournament championship wins with eight.
Mallory Matthews - Coach Of The Year
After leading the only undefeated team in Division III to its first Regional Championship Victory, Head Coach
Mallory Matthews has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association's National Coach of the Year. Matthews has improved the program every year since her return to her alma mater in December 2021, winning the American Southwest Conference Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Tournament in the last three seasons.
This season, Matthews led ETBU to be one of three programs in Division I, II, III to remain undefeated, alongside Nebraska (26-0) and Tampa (25-0). This year's Tigers program has recorded more record-breaking achievements than any previous season, including a program winning streak of 34 matches. This season, ETBU has notable wins over three teams heading to the NCAA Championship Tournament: No. 5 Wisconsin-Eau Claire, No. 6 Trinity (TX), and No. 8 Berry. This season, the Tigers have now beaten 10 opponents ranked in the top 50 of the NPI. Matthews has brought ETBU to the Second round of the NCAA Regional Tournament for the last three years in a row and won the Regional Tournament this year for the first time in program history.

Senior
Graycee Mosley has surpassed Arden Tunnell as the ETBU All-Time Career Kills Leader. Mosley has recorded 2,020 kills this season, advancing past Tunnell's record of 2,015, which was recorded during the 2002-2005 seasons. The four-year starter from Troy, Texas, is on pace to record a personal high in season kills. Mosley has recorded more kills per season each year she's been with the Tigers and stands at 520 on the 2025 season. She ended the 2024 season with 529, a career high for season kills. She is just 10 kills shy of breaking her season record.
All Regional All-Tournament Team
Three Tigers were named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team.
Graycee Mosley won Most Outstanding Player, while
Lara Hornsby and
Anita Hancock won All-Tournament. The Tigers swept both Maine Maritime and Emory in the first two games of the Regional Tournament, then beat Tufts 3-1 at Tufts University to win their first-ever Regional Tournament.

The Tigers swept both Howard Payne and Hardin-Simmons to secure the ASC Tournament Championship.

Graycee Mosley all won ASC All-Tournament Awards, with Mosley winning All-Tournament Most Valuable Player. Mosley had 42 kills on only eight errors for a .427 hitting percentage. She recorded 20 total digs, ten per set, achieving her 81st and 82nd career double-doubles. Humphrey recorded 32 digs this weekend while Moody recorded 35 assists.
One of One
ETBU has been ranked No. 1 in NPI every week the rankings have come out this season, dating back to October 19th, 2025. This is the highest ranking in the program, ever. The Tigers started the season ranked No. 14 in the AVCA Poll, then jumped to No. 8, then No. 5, then No. 2, and hit No. 1 on November 11th. Before this season, the program's highest ranking was No. 8, set in 2024.
ASC Recognition
After finishing an undefeated regular season with a perfect 8-0 record in the American Southwest Conference (ASC), ETBU was awarded four major awards, and eight players were named All-ASC.

ETBU has not lost a home match in 43 games, with its last loss occurring to LeTourneau in September of 2022. The Tigers have had three straight perfect regular seasons in Ornelas Gymnasium. This season, they have swept 14 of 15 home matches, posting a 15-0 home record. ETBU has swept 24 of its 31 opponents this season and has gone to a fifth set only twice— against Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Hardin-Simmons. UWEC is now ranked No. 5 in the NPI with only four losses, one of which was from the while Howard-Payne is second in the American Southwest Conference.

The Tigers have beaten three teams in the top 15 and seven in the top 50. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is No. 5 with 66.770 points, and Trinity University (TX) is No. 10 with 64,847 points. Berry is No. 15 with 62.287 points. Emory is 28 with 60.629 points, Edgewood is No. 35 with 59.491 points, Northwestern-St. Paul is No. 36 with 59.491 points, No. 47 is St. Thomas with 58.405 points. The Tigers have also beaten two teams just outside the top 50, including No. 54 Colorado College (58.068), No. 56 Hardin-Simmons (57.979), and No. 57 Mary-Hardin Baylor (57.879). Colorado College won the SCAC Conference Tournament, earning an NCAA Tournament bid.

Anita Hancock hit her 100th block of the season against UC Santa Cruz and now has 125 on the season. The Celina, Texas, native recorded her 300th Career Block this past weekend against Tufts in the Regional Championship Victory. Hancock has 303 total blocks in her career and is fifth on the ETBU all-time block list. Hancock averaged nine points per game in the Regional tournament.
A Grand Accomplishment

Callie Humphrey,
Lexi Moody, and
Sydney Temple all achieved significant career milestones this season. Mosley hit 1,500 digs against UC Santa Cruz and scored her 2000th career point earlier in the season while recording her 2000th career kill in the Regional Tournament. The Troy, Texas native is now at 1,600 digs and 2,242.0 points. Mosley recorded her 2020th career kill last weekend and now holds the record for most kills in a career for any ETBU Player. Temple collected her 1000th career dig against Howard Payne on October 25th. Humphrey completed her 1,000th career dig, and
Lexi Moody accomplished her 2,000th career assist, both against Centenary on September 16th.
Face of the ASC
ETBU has had a player awarded the American Southwest Conference Player of the Week nine times out of 10 this season. The Tigers have swept both offensive and defensive awards in four of the ten weeks, with Mosley winning offensive and
Anita Hancock winning Defensive in week one, while Hancock won the Offensive and
Callie Humphrey won defensive in week three. Mosley and Humphrey have won it twice, together, this year.
Callie Humphrey won her fourth American Southwest Conference weekly award of the season, fifth in her career. The Senior from Haslet, Texas, recorded 39 digs and served seven aces on 41 attempts, scoring eight points for ETBU this weekend. Her defensive efforts helped the Tigers sweep both Austin College and UC Santa Cruz. In her two years at ETBU, Humphrey has recorded 921 digs.

Graycee Mosley earned her 20th ASC Player of the Week award, which is a new overall ASC record. She holds the most weekly awards of any athlete in the American Southwest Conference.
'Can I get a Double-Double?'
Graycee Mosley achieved her 87th career double-double against Emory last weekend. She recorded 39 kills and 32 digs in the Regional Tournament. The four-year Senior has 2020 career kills and 1600 career digs.

With a team full of upperclassmen, Freshman
Lara Hornsby has become a major contributor for the Tigers. Playing in every match this season, Hornsby has achieved 331 kills, 117 digs, and 26 blocks, totaling 269.5 points. The Decatur, Texas, Native has been awarded Region X Freshman of the Year, Co-ASC Freshman of the Year, and NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team.

Graycee Mosley was awarded the American Volleyball Coaches Association National DIII Player of the Week on October 7th after a 3-0 weekend in Georgia during the Berry Invite on October 2nd and 3rd. Mosley played in all 11 sets that weekend, never coming out of a game. She had 45 kills on eight errors for a .378 hitting percentage.

Graycee Mosley heads into the NCAA Quarterfinal with 87 career double-doubles. Last weekend, she won the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Most Outstanding Player. In the Conference Tournament, she won the ASC All-Tournament MVP. In the last ASC Weekly Award of the season, she achieved her 20th career ASC Weekly award, which is the most weekly awards of any American Southwest Conference athlete of any sport in the conference's history. On October 7th, she was awarded the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Week award. The Senior from Troy, Texas, holds the most kills in ETBU Volleyball history with 2015 and has 1600 digs.

Just one week after hosting the ASC Tournament Trophy, ETBU has more hardware to bring home. The Tigers swept both Maine Maritime and Emory in the first two games of the NCAA Regional Tournament before beating Tufts 3-1 to become Regional Champions for the first time in program history.

Only Undefeated Left (Nov 8)
The Tigers finished out their regular season as the only program in Division III Women's Volleyball that remains undefeated. ETBU defeated both Ozarks and Austin College on Saturday. This is ETBU's first season making it through the regular season unscathed, as they are now 29-0 heading into the ASC tournament.
Area 41 (Oct 31-Nov 1)
For the third straight season, ETBU finishes a perfect regular-season home schedule. The Tigers beat Austin College and UC Santa Cruz this weekend, winning their 40th and 41st consecutive regular-season home games. Ornelas Gymnasium has not seen a regular-season home loss since 2022.
Super Seniors (Oct 23-25)
ETBU won three matches this week, including a top-25 sweep of St. Thomas Houston on Thursday and two conference wins against Hardin-Simmons on Friday and Howard Payne on Saturday to secure the regular-season ASC sweep. Saturday was senior day, celebrating the five seniors, four of whom have been at ETBU for all four years.
Homecoming Queens (Oct 14, 18)
During homecoming week, the Tigers swept two opponents at home for the second week in a row. ETBU beat Centenary 3-0 in Ornelas on Tuesday and swept Mary Hardin-Baylor 3-0 on Friday. The Tigers have faced and swept both of these opponents twice this season.
Home Sweep Home (Oct 9, 12)
ETBU returned to Ornelas after a month on the road and swept both Centre College and Hendrix College 3-0. The Tigers are 6-0 at home, sweeping every opponent to enter Ornelas Gymnasium this season.
'Georgia on My Mind' (Oct. 3-4)
The Tigers took a road trip to Georgia to participate in the Berry Invite. The Tigers won all three matches they played, sweeping Covenant, beating the host, number 14-ranked Berry, and beating Oglethorpe. The Tigers are the only team from outside the state of Georgia in the invitational and the only team to beat every opponent in the invite.
Travelin' Tigers (Sept. 26-27)
ETBU traveled to every American Southwest Conference opponent in the span of eight days, sweeping all three opponents 3-0. The Tigers took care of business against UMHB on September 19th, then swept Hardin-Simmons on September 26 in Abilene and Howard Payne on September 27 in Brownwood. The Tigers have played 11 of their 15 matches this season on the road. Their last seven matches have been on the road.
Business Trip (Sept. 16, 19)
ETBU went back on the road, sweeping Centenary in Shreveport, LA, on Tuesday night. Then, the Tigers returned to Texas, opening conference play against UMHB, winning 3-0 in Belton.
Historic Weekend (Sept. 12-13)
ETBU went 3-0 at the Tiger Classic hosted by Trinity Texas, defeating Whitworth (3-1), UNW (3-0), and Trinity (3-1). The Tigers broke two program records. Beating No. 12 Trinity Texas for the first time in program history and going 11-0 for the first time.
Hometown Heroes (Sept. 5-6)
The Tigers went 4-0 in their home opener, winning every match in three sets. Last year, they posted a 29-match streak that ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. They carry a 30-match regular-season home winning streak and a 29-match regular-season win streak into week three of play. The Tigers have not lost a regular-season home match since 2022, when they fell 3-2 to LeTourneau.
Cool in Colorado (Aug. 29-30)
ETBU opened the season by going a cool 4-0 in the Pikes Peak Challenge hosted by Colorado College. The Tigers started off the weekend by beating Edgewood 3-0 and then played a close 5-set match with no. 22 Wisconsin-Eau Claire. ETBU then took on host Colorado College in a 3-1 victory, ending their time with a 3-0 sweep against Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
