Wednesday's recap of the ETBU Beach Volleyball's TAME trip to Roatan is provided by sophomores
Emily Thomas and
Brenna Pope.
"Today was our second camp day and it was so special to see the kids open up to us. They were wanting us to be on their teams and wanting to talk and know everything about us. Our first group asked four of our leaders to share their testimonies because they wanted to understand why we believed in God. I love to share my testimony but the fact that they wanted to hear it and asked me first was very special and touched my heart. The second group was so special because they knew more about volleyball and strived to compete. Overall, it was amazing to see how God placed us all in different kids' life to love on them and connect with them. We were able to form a strong bond even though we only got to see them for two days. God really does have a plan for everything," Thomas said.
"Today was absolutely amazing. The kids started to really open up to us and ask some hard questions about the Bible and about faith. In the second session, I had the chance to talk with two girls together instead of our typical small group setting, and it was really eye-opening and very relatable. They had some trouble opening up about things, but I tried my best to make them comfortable and reassure them that I am there to listen. They opened up about some things, and it was the most fruitful conversation I think I've ever had. Because of that, genuine connections were made and I hope these kids learned something from me because I definitely learned something from them," Pope added.
