MARSHALL, Texas – Opening up the game with a 31-1 lead in the first quarter, No. 15 East Texas Baptist University was just shy of the century mark in a 93-27 victory over Centenary College (La.). ETBU is now 9-1 and moves to 4-0 in Ornelas Gym.
 
ETBU shot 45 percent from the floor making 10+ three-pointers on the night and was close to 80 percent from the line. ETBU dominated the boards with 50+ rebounds and had nine steals.
 
Macey Jones led the team with a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds as Anna Beamesderfer added 12 points and Sara Cowan 10 points. Hannah Ayala finished with 10+ rebounds, also.
 
ETBU opened the game allowing just one point in the first quarter while scoring 31 and then posted 22 in the second quarter. Centenary did add 15 points in the second quarter but ETBU made it 53-16 at the half. In the second half, ETBU added 19 points in the third quarter and 21 points in the fourth for their highest scoring game of the year.
 
ETBU will play next in the UMHB Christmas Classic on Monday, Dec. 15 against George Fox in Belton, Texas.
