TEXARKANA, Texas – Traveling less than an hour north to the Texas A&M Texarkana Beach Volleyball Classic, East Texas Baptist University went 1-1 on Saturday. ETBU won their first match of the day, 3-2, over Hendrix College but fell to host TXAMU-Texarkana, 4-1. ETBU is now 3-13.
ETBU 3, Hendrix 2
Tied 1-1 heading into the final three matches (1-3), ETBU took Flight 2 and Flight 3 to secure the win. In Flight 4,
Kyleigh Pate and
Camille Freeman earned the first point, 21-12, 21-14, over Mabrey Matz and Perri Evans.
Sierra Wendt and
Bailee Kitchen then won the second point of the match, 21-19, 21-13, over Jaxie Tillman and Lilly Meyer at Flight 3.
Brooke Nalley and
Bella Fields won the match at Flight 2 with a three-set victory, 21-17, 15-21, 15-13.
TAMU-Texarkana 4, ETBU 1
Three of the five flights went three sets as ETBU fell to the host, 4-1. Pate and Freeman won Flight 4, 22-20, 18-21, 15-10, for ETBU's point. At Flight 1,
Sofia Castillo and
Taylor Parker went three sets but fell, 21-15, 10-21, 7-15. The other three-set match was at Flight 3 as Wendt and Kitchen dropped the match, 16-21, 21-15, 4-15.
ETBU travels to Georgia next weekend for the Berry College Classic.
