SAN ANTONIO, Texas – With a strong win over Schreiner University, 5-2, East Texas Baptist University now has a three-match winning streak and 3-0 to start the spring season. The Tigers swept in doubles to take the point and won singles matches at no. 1, 2, 3, 4.
Jacob Daniell and
Fredrik Friberg got the first doubles win in match no. 3, 6-3.
Slade Austin and
Baptiste Berthier took doubles match no.2, 7-5.
Carson Crow and
Drew Van Wyk finished strong with a win in match no.3, 6-1.
Friberg won out over Ryan Morales, 6-1, 6-0, to give the Tigers the first victory in singles of the day at no. 2.
Slade Austin took the second win in match no.1, 6-1, 6-1, over Darren Nava.
Drew Van Wyk gave the Tigers their third singles win, 6-2, 6-2, at no. 3.
Kayden Lengacher won at no. 4 in a tiebreaker, 12-10, after dropping set 1, 3-6, and winning in set 2, 6-3.
David Garcia dropped match no. 5 to Schreiner, 3-6, 5-7.
Carson Crow came up short in losing in a tiebreaker in match no.6, 7-5, 4-6, 9-11.
ETBU will take on national power Trinity University in San Antonio on March 2.
