SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Earing their first win of the year, East Texas Baptist University swept Schreiner University, 7-0. ETBU is now 1-1 on the year after taking the doubles point and all six singles matches.
 
Fernanda Ruiz-Burkart and Isabelle Macquet took the first doubles in match no.3, 6-2. Jayde Childress and Kristyn Dunn won out match no. 2, 6-2, while Bailey Smith and Monique Ybarra had a strong finish at no. 1, 6-2, to give ETBU the doubles point.
 
At the no. 3 singles, Ruiz-Burkart gave the Tigers the first win, 6-2, 6-1. Smith notched a victory over Mackenzie Griffin, 6-1, 6-2, to put ETBU 3-0 at no. 1. Childress beat out Addyson Grunburg, 6-1, 6-0, to widen the lead to four at no. 2. Duarte had a close call after winning set 1, 6-1, as she beat out Ally Leonard in set 2, 6-4, at no. 4. Kristyn Dunn earned a win at no. 5 over Becceril, 6-0, 6-1, to give the Tigers a 6-0 lead. The final win for the Tigers today came as Isabelle Macquet beat Daniella Rodriquez, 6-1, 6-0 at no. 6.
 
ETBU will face off against Trinity University, Sunday, March 2 at 1:00 PM in San Antonio.
