BELTON, Texas – Moving their win streak to six matches, East Texas Baptist University took a 5-2 win over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 5-2. ETBU is now 9-2 and 2-1 in the American Southwest Conference.
Sweeping all three matches in doubles for the first point, ETBU took the momentum early.
Sam Black and
Max Karseno won the no. 1 match, 6-4, as did
BT White and
Slade Austin at no. 3.
Jacob Daniell and
Erick Van Zyl finished off the no. 2 doubles, 7-6, in a tiebreaker securing the sweep.
ETBU took the top three singles matches and the no. 5 match for the 5-2 win. Black won in a tiebreaker at no. 1, 6-7, 6-0, 7-5, while White also won a tiebreaker at no. 3, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Jaco Snyman had a 6-2, 7-5 win at no. 2 singles, and then
Baptiste Berthier won the no. 5 match, 7-5, 6-3.
ETBU will face Sewanee (Tenn.) on a neutral court in Jackson, Miss., on Saturday.
