MARSHALL, Texas – In their final regular season match, East Texas Baptist University held off LeTourneau University, 6-1, in American Southwest Conference women's tennis. ETBU ends the regular season at 6-6 and 2-2 in the ASC.
 
It was a battle in doubles for the point, but ETBU won two of the three matches. After falling in the no. 1 match, 7-6, Jayde Childress and Fernanda Ruiz Burkart took the no. 2 match, 6-1. Kristyn Dunn and Isabell Macquet finished off LETU at no. 3 in a 7-5 close match for the point.
 
ETBU cruised through the first four matches in singles for a 5-0 lead. Monique Ybarra won, 6-0, 6-3, at no. 1 and Bailey Smith took the no. 2 match, 6-1, 6-3. Childress had a 6-2, 6-0 win at no. 3 and Ruiz Burkart won at no. 4, in a shutout, 6-0, 6-0. Dunn made it 6-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at no. 6. Isabelle Duarte fell at no. 5 in a tiebreaker, 1-6, 7-5, 5-10.
 
ETBU will now wait for the ASC Championship Tournament and who they will play.
