#TIGERSWIN | SB | No. 1 ETBU Produces 17 Runs, 4 HRs in Sweep of UTD

RICHARDSON, Texas – An exciting Sunday afternoon doubleheader took place in Richardson as No. 1 East Texas Baptist University swept the University of Texas Dallas, moving to 24-2. The first win wasn't easy, as ETBU scored six runs in the top of the seventh, and Tristen Maddox hit a grand slam for the lead and win 6-3. In game two, ETBU rolled the Comets 11-0 in five innings as Tauryn Cummings had six RBI and two home runs.
 
Hannah Benavides earned the win in game one in relief going the final three innings allowing no runs on one hit and two strikeouts. Larkin Daniels picked up another shutout win with six strikeouts. Cummings led the ETBU offense with four hits, six RBI, and two home runs. Emma Bell added four hits with an RBI, and Maddox provided three hits and four RBIs.
 
Game 1
ETBU 6, UTD 3

ETBU rallied in the seventh inning to secure a 6-3 victory over UTD, staging a late comeback, scoring all six of their runs in the final inning, overcoming a 3-0 deficit. ETBU managed four hits and one home run, while the Comets had seven hits, including one double and one home run, but could not maintain their early lead.
 
Maddox led ETBU with four RBI on a grand slam. Makayla Menchue and Mary Frances Ellis contributed one RBI and scored a run. Hannah Benavides pitched three relief innings, allowing only one hit and no runs while striking out two batters, recording a win to improve her record to 3-1. McKenzie Jones started the game going four innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs, with one strikeout and no walks.
 
UTD scored a run in the first and second innings for a 2-0 lead. They made it 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring on a hit by pitch
 
ETBU's breakthrough came in the seventh inning when Bell singled. This was followed by a sequence of walks and a hit batter, resulting in loaded bases. Menchue and Ellis both walked, earning an RBI, narrowing the deficit to 3-2. Maddox then delivered a decisive blow with a grand slam to left center, bringing in four runs and securing a 6-3 lead for ETBU. UT Dallas could not respond in the bottom of the seventh, resulting in a 6-3 victory for ETBU.

ETBU 11, UTD 0

ETBU took control early with three runs in the first inning and added five more in the second, highlighted by three home runs throughout the game for the run-rule win, 11-0. ETBU recorded 14 hits, while Daniels held UTD to just three hits over five innings.
 
Cummings logged three hits, including two home runs, and drove in six runs. Bell also delivered a strong showing, collecting three hits, one of which was a double, and scoring three runs. Daniels excelled in the circle, pitching a complete game shutout, allowing only three hits and striking out six batters. She also retired the first three batters of the game. Izabella Morales scored two runs and drawing one walk as Ava Rodriguez added power to the lineup with a home run, two hits, and one RBI. Madalyn Melton also added two RBI.
 
The Tigers opened the first inning with a strong offensive performance, scoring three runs on six hits. Cummings and Melton each contributed RBIs, with Melton driving in two runs for the early lead. UT Dallas was unable to respond, going three up and three down in their half of the inning, leaving the Tigers ahead 3–0.
 
In the second inning, ETBU extended their lead with a five-run surge. Cummings hit a three-run homer, followed by a solo home run from Rodriguez. UT Dallas struggled at the plate, with the Daniels striking out the side to maintain the 8–0 lead.
 
ETBU added to their lead in the fourth inning with Cummings hitting her second home run of the game, a two-run shot, followed by an RBI groundout from Perseis Aguilar. UT Dallas had a runner on in the fifth inning but Daniels struck out the last two batters.
