BROWNWOOD, Texas – Closing out the season on a high point, East Texas Baptist University finished third at the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament and earned several post-season awards. Two golfers earned major awards as five gained All-ASC status.
The ASC award
Anastasia Stava as the Newcomer of the Year and
Rylee Beard as the Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. Earning All-ASC second team were
Brinley Patterson and
Kirsten Bridges and honorable mention was Stava, Beard, and Haley Westfall.
Playing the ASC Championship Tournament at The Hideout in Brownwood, Texas, ETBU claimed third place with 958 (324-311-323).They were 38 strokes behind second place and no. 37 UC Santa Cruz (305-302-313). Mary Hardin-Baylor shot a 907 (299-298-310) for first place.
Beard just missed out of the top 10 coming in 11
th place with a 235 (81-75-79). She was six strokes from being in the top three as her second round of 75 was her best. Patterson was 14
th with a 241 (79-83-79) as her best round of 79 was shot on her first and third rounds. Westfall was the third ETBU golfer in the top 20 at 19
th with a 249 (89-78-82). Her best round came in the second round at 78. Bridges rounded out the top 20 in 20
th with a 249 (89-78-82). She also had her best round in the second round at 78.
Stava was then 21
st with a 250 (83-82-85) and
Halee Johnson was 28
th at 263 (87-93-83).
