ETBU Bass Team Set to Compete in Bassmaster College Series National Championship
Three teams from the East Texas Baptist University Bass Fishing team will represent the University on the national stage at the 2025 Strike King Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops, held July 10–12 on Cherokee Lake in Jefferson City, Tennessee.

The three-day championship tournament features the top collegiate anglers in the country, with only the top 12 teams advancing to compete on the final day for a national title. Around 160 teams will compete in the National Championship after qualifying via the six regular-season College Series events or the college circuit of their B.A.S.S. Nation's state championships.

"I'm very proud of each of our teams that qualified for this national tournament," Head Coach Cameron Burger said. "Two teams earned their spots through strong tournament finishes, and one qualified through season-long points."

Brett Jolley and Carson Stevens qualified with an 8th-place finish at the Harris Chain of Lakes in Florida. Brayden Mercer and Corey Morris secured their bid by finishing 14th in the overall season points standings. Trey McMeen and Dylan Armstrong clinched their place at nationals with an 11th-place finish at the Harris Chain of Lakes.

"Every angler on our team has a different style, but they work extremely well together," Burger said. "Success in tournament fishing depends heavily on adapting to changing conditions and making the right decisions throughout the day, and these guys have done that time and time again. This tournament will also be a special one, as it marks the final event for graduate student Brett Jolley. I'm hopeful he'll finish his ETBU career with a great performance."

The Tigers will take to the water among the nation's best, with daily takeoffs and weigh-ins held at Cherokee Dam Boat Ramp in Jefferson City. Tournament coverage will be available on Bassmaster.com. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m., and weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m.
