MARSHALL, Texas—Traveling to the West Coast to start the 2025 season, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team has a two-game road trip to Santa Cruz, Calif., where they face the University of Chicago and Linfield University. ETBU will take on the University of Chicago on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Linfield on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. It will be the first meeting for all the programs.
Under second-year head coach Joey Petrich, ETBU is coming off a season in which it won an ASC Tournament match, 2-1, over LeTourneau University and advanced to the ASC semifinals.
ETBU returns ASC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year
Keira Coughlin and four All-ASC Second Team selections:
Mallory Duncan, Coughlin,
Grace Shurley, and
Cadence Tischler. Coughlin started 15 of 16 games in 2024, anchoring the back line. Duncan contributed two goals on the season, while Shurley immediately impacted her freshman campaign with two goals, 30 shots, and 13 shots on goal. Tischler was a mainstay in goal, logging 1,407 minutes and recording 84 saves with a .718 save percentage.
The Tigers look to build on last season's momentum as they begin a challenging non-conference schedule on the West Coast.
