MARSHALL, Texas— After two weeks of play, East Texas Baptist University has moved into the American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Top 10 as the No. 10 team in the nation. ETBU went 4-0 last week in their home opener and has been in the national poll for 16 weeks.
Earning 1,370 points, ETBU was just 42 points behind Washington & Lee (1,412). ETBU is ahead of Washington-St. Louis by 69 points. ETBU was in the top 10 for five weeks last season, reaching as high as No. 8.
ETBU played in the Tiger Invitational at home last Friday and Saturday, winning all four matches over Dallas, Carroll (WI), Belhaven, and Concordia Texas. The Tigers beat all of their opponents in three sets, resulting in a perfect 8-0 record. ETBU will have a tough test this weekend in San Antonio facing No. 12 Trinity University along with the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and Whitworth University who are receiving votes.
ETBU will head to San Antonio for the Trinity University Tiger Classic to play Whitworth (Wash.), University of Northwestern (Minn.) and No. 12 Trinity (Texas) this Friday and Saturday.
