ABILENE, Texas — A late goal in the 84th minute handed East Texas Baptist University a 4-3 road loss to McMurry University on Thursday night in men's soccer. ETBU is now 2-3 on the year.
The Tigers struck first in the 10th minute when
Matthew Aguilar scored to make it 1-0. McMurry answered in the 29th minute, but ETBU regained the lead just after halftime on a 46th-minute goal from
Lars Clark.
The War Hawks responded quickly, pulling even in the 52nd minute and adding another in the 57th to take a 3-2 advantage. Clark tied the match again in the 66th minute with a penalty kick, his second goal of the night, before McMurry netted the game-winner in the 84th.
ETBU finished with 13 shots, eight on goal, as Clark led with three shots. Goalkeepers
Joshua Weston and
Ryan Lord combined for five saves.
ETBU returns to action on Saturday at 3:- p.m. when they travel to Schreiner University.
