AWARD | FB | ETBU's Williams Named to d3football.com Team of Week; Is ASC Defensive POW

MARSHALL, Texas – Producing a career game against Oklahoma Panhandle State University, East Texas Baptist University's Dominick Williams earned two awards for his play. He was named to the d3football.com Team of the Week as a defensive end and the American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week. It is the second time in his career to be the ASC Defensive Player of the Week. ETBU has now produced a student-athlete on the d3football.com Team of the Week for the second year in row. 
 
ETBU earned the program's first shutout at Ornelas Stadium in 20+ years with a 28-0 win over OPSU. Williams posted 10 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
 
The Tigers are now 2-0 and face Centenary College on Saturday, September 20, at 6:00 p.m.

DE Dominick Williams, Sr., East Texas Baptist
Williams had a career-high four sacks, four tackles for loss of 27 yards, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries as ETBU recorded its first shutout at home since 2010, defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State 28-0. He tied his career-high of 10 tackles with six solo tackles. His first sack came in the first quarter at the ETBU 21-yard line on a 1st-and-10 for a loss of six yards. Two plays later, he earned his second sack, on the same series, at the 23-yard line on OPSU's opening drive. The sack resulted in a fumble, which he recovered and ended the scoring threat. His third sack came in the 3rd quarter when OPSU threatened to score on the ETBU 33-yard line as he had is second forced fumble and recovery. His final sack came at the five-minute mark in the third quarter at the OPSU 5-yard line on third and 21.
