MARSHALL, Texas — It was all smiles in East Texas on Saturday as East Texas Baptist University celebrated Senior Day with a commanding 4-0 win over the University of the Ozarks in non-conference women's soccer action. ETBU is now 3-1-3 and recorded five straight shutouts.
The Tigers honored four seniors before kickoff: goalkeeper Cadence Tishler, forward
Liliana Garcia, midfielder
Mallory Duncan and midfielder
Bryanne Izaguirre, and midfielder/forward
Alexus Wright. The group capped the celebration with a dominant performance on both ends of the field.
After a scoreless first half, ETBU came out firing in the second.
Madeline Rumachik opened the scoring in the 47th minute off an assist from
Paige Barclay. Just 13 seconds later, Barclay added a goal of her own, assisted by Duncan, to quickly double the lead.
Ryan McLain extended the advantage in the 67th minute and
Grace Shurley sealed the win with a strike in the 70th minute.
The Tigers tallied 17 shots, including nine on target. Tishler recorded one save in goal, earning her fifth shutout of the season.
ETBU will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to Shreveport, La., to take on Centenary College at 7:00 p.m.
