MARSHALL, Texas— After one week of play, East Texas Baptist University has moved up three spots in the weekly American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division III poll. ETBU is now No. 11 in the nation after going 4-0 last week and been in the national poll for 15 weeks in a row.
Earning 1,278 points, ETBU was just 13 points out of the top 10 behind Washington-St. Louis (1,301). ETBU is ahead of Trinity (Texas) by 176 points and play them September 13 in San Antonio.
ETBU played in the Pikes Peak Challenge at Colorado College last Friday and Saturday winning all four matches. One of the biggest wins in the early season came over then No. 20 UW-Eau Claire in a five-set victory. The Tigers took the host Colorado College to a 3-1 Victory and swept both Edgewood and Wisconsin-Stevens Point in three sets.
ETBU will have its home opener this Friday and Saturday at the Tiger Invitational in Ornelas Gym.
