GEORGETOWN, Texas — Going 4-0 on the weekend in Central Texas, no. 9 East Texas Baptist University remained unbeaten with a pair of wins over Southwestern University, 3-2 and 9-6, on Sunday at Taylor-Sanders Field. ETBU's offense hit .309 as a team and outscored its opponent 13-8 in a two-game sweep moving to 8-0.
Ashley De Leon and
Emma Boren each went 3-for-6 (.500) to lead the offense, with De Leon adding a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
Ryan Stratman batted .429 (3-for-7) with two runs and two stolen bases.
Aleyna St. Jean provided the biggest swing, hitting the team's lone home run and driving in a team-high three RBIs.
In the circle,
Avery Holland earned the win with a seven-inning complete game, allowing two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in game one.
Alexis Kemp added 3 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts in relief in game two for the win.
Game 1
ETBU 3, Southwestern 2
ETBU sealed the win with a two-run rally in the seventh inning, capitalizing on Southwestern's two fielding errors. Southwestern took the lead in the second inning when they scored two runs, including a home run, but were unable to maintain the lead.
Stratman led the Tigers with two hits, a run, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base.
Avery Holland threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in seven innings.
Ashley De Leon added two hits, including a double, and scored a run.
In the fifth,
Aleyna St. Jean flied out to left, then
Carley Johnson, running for De Leon, stole third and scored on a catcher's error to make it 2-1.
In the seventh, De Leon singled and advanced on an error. Stratman singled up the middle to tie it at two, then
Ava Rodriguez singled to right side to bring in Stratman for a 3-2 lead.
Holland retired Southwestern in order in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win.

The Tigers jumped out to a 7-4 lead in three innings, including three runs in the third. Southwestern answered with four runs in the second, but ETBU's defense held them to just two more the rest of the way.
Izabella Morales drove in two runs. St. Jean homered and had three RBI. De Leon added a hit and two RBI.
Katelynn Jones scored twice and stole a base.
Jones scored on a Rodriguez sacrifice fly in the first for a 1-0 Tigers lead. St. Jean homered to left in the second, driving in three for a 4-0 lead, but Southwestern answered with four to tie it 4-4.
Boren singled in a run and De Leon had a two-RBI single in the third to make it 7-4. Southwestern was held scoreless in the bottom half.
Southwestern cut the deficit to 7-6 in the fourth. Neither team scored in the fifth.
Morales singled home two more runs in the sixth for a 9-6 ETBU lead.
Pyle added a sacrifice fly in the seventh for the final margin. Southwestern was held scoreless in the seventh.
ETBU improved to 8-0 with the sweep.
