MARSHALL, Texas – For the third time this year, East Texas Baptist University has earned the American Southwest Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week. This week,
Mark Armbruster won the award as the third different student-athlete to receive the award with
Jaco Snyman and
Erick Van Zyl.

MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mark Armbruster, Jr., East Texas Baptist
Mark Armbruster and the East Texas Baptist Tigers faced strong competition at the 2026 Spring Break Classic in Orlando, Florida. Armbruster delivered a strong performance in both singles and doubles, competing against ranked opponents No. 35 Skidmore College and No. 3 Case Western Reserve, along with Ohio Northern and Connecticut College during the tournament.
In singles play, Armbruster went 2-2 while posting a 3-1 record in doubles alongside
Erick Van Zyl. He defeated Ohio Northern's Ethan Remy at the No. 3 spot, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. He then went on to defeat Noa Hoshino of Connecticut College 6-2, 6-3 in the final match of the tournament. In doubles, Armbruster and Van Zyl dropped their only match of the week to Ohio Northern 6-4 before going on to defeat Case Western Reserve, Skidmore, and Connecticut College at the No. 2 spot by scores of 6-3, 6-4, and 7-5.
