MARSHALL, Texas – Excitement is building up for the East Texas Baptist University Tiger Pom program as they prepare for nationals in Florida after winning the American Collegiate Championship held at the University of North Texas on March 28. For the first time in Tiger Pom history, ETBU won the competition for the overall highest score in NCAA Division III.
ETBU competed in a jazz and pom routine at the American Collegiate Championship at North Texas, where they placed first in jazz competition and second in pom. They earned the highest overall score in the NCAA DIII competition, becoming the DIII American Collegiate Champions over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Southwestern University.
"We loved getting to showcase all of our hard work and dedication! Now we're back home using what we learned to push us to the finish line in Orlando," said assistant coach Macy Leonard.
Assistant coach Kara Rodriguez added, "We finished our first competition with a bang, bringing home first place. Now we're counting down the days until Orlando and are super excited to put our finishing touches on our dances!"
ETBU will compete at the National Championships in Orlando, Fla., on April 11-12.
