FRANKSTON, Texas – Winning their second straight invitational in a week, East Texas Baptist University held off LeTourneau University in the Goliath Compression Women's Golf Invite hosted by LeTourneau at Pine Dunes. ETBU cut seven strokes off their round one score to finish with a 637 as LETU had a 641. Three ETBU student-athletes were in the top 10 as
Rylee Beard and
Hallie Westfall tied for third place.
In the first round, ETBU (322) trailed LETU (319) by three strokes and was one ahead of Hardin Simmons University (323). In the final round, the Tigers shaved off seven strokes for a 315 to finish with a 637 as LETU added three to their round (322) for a 641. Hardin-Simmons shot a 320 and came in third with a 643.
Beard and Westfall both shot a 157 to tie for third place. Beard had an 81 and then took five strokes off her score on day two with a 76. Westfall started with a 78 and then had a 79 in the final round for her 157. Hannah Newell came in sixth with a 158 (75-83) and
Madisyn Davis was ninth with a 159 (78-81).
Kristen Bridges finished in 17
th with a 165 (85-80) as
Anastasia Stava was 23
rd with a 170 (90-80) taking 10 strokes off her score on day two.
Halee Johnson shot a 171 (89-82) for 25
th.
ETBU will compete in their final tournament of the year for the American Southwest Conference Championship on May 1-3 at Lake Whitney, Texas,
