GULF SHORES, Ala. – Advancing to the championship round of the AVCA Small College Beach Volleyball Championship Tournament, East Texas Baptist University went 1-1 on the first day. ETBU is now 12-18 on the year and moves to the championship bracket for the second time in three years.
ETBU opened the day with a 3-0 win over LaGrange for their 12
th win of the year. ETBU won flights one, four, and five.
Paige Dickson and
Boston Morin won over Julia Damico and Alex Krabs, 21-9, 21-16.
Caitlyn Ellenburg and
Emily Thomas won flight four, 21-13, 21-18, and
Morgan Cox and
Emmaley Matz took flight five, 21-4, 21-14.
In the 3-0 loss to Berry, ETBU lost flights one, two, and three. Dickson and Morin fell, 21-13, 21-12, at one and
Bella Fields and
Caiden Lasala lost at flight two, 21-9, 21-15. Lucienne Guardia and
Katelynn Holloway lost at flight three, 21-17, 21-11.
ETBU will face Southern Virginia at 8:05 a.m. Central Time on Saturday morning. If they win, they face Mary Hardin-Baylor at 10:15 am.
