AWARD | BB | ETBU Collects Five Major ASC Awards for 2026 Season

MARSHALL, Texas — Receiving four major American Southwest Conference awards, East Texas Baptist University had 10 student-athletes be named All-ASC. Carson Livesay is the ASC Player of the Year, Isaac Thornton is the ASC Newcomer of the Year, Carter Nannini is the ASC Freshman of the Year, Conner Smeltzer is the ASC Tournament MVP, and the ETBU Coaching staff is the Co-Coaching Staff of the Year. 
 
The Tigers' coaching staff has earned Co-Coaching Staff of the Year honors and is the sixth time Jared Hood's staff has received this award (2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2016). ETBU went 12-0 in the ASC to win the regular season championship and took the ASC Tournament Championship for the third time in four years to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. ETBU is currently ranked in the top 25 in three polls and has a top 20 NPI.

Smeltzer (Jr., Longview, Texas) was named the ASC Tournament MVP for his performance in the championship game. He came on in relief to pitch the final five innings to earn the win. He allowed just four hits, no runs, and struck out a career-high eight batters as ETBU won the ASC Tournament Championship. He is 4-0 on the year with a 4.91 ERA, has two saves, and 23 strikeouts on the year.
 
Livesay earned the ASC Player of the Year and was All-ASC First Team as an outfield. The senior from Lafayette, La., led the ASC in runs with 53 and is in the top five in RBI with 48. He has 58 hits with six home runs, 11 doubles, and a .372 batting average. He also was the ASC Hitter of the Week, twice.
 
Thornton (Sr., Flower Mound, Texas) is the ASC Newcomer of the Year and on the All-ASC First Team. The Senior from Flower Mound, Texas, has a 9-2 record on the mound with 71.2 innings pitched, 83 strikeouts, limiting his opponents to a .221 batting average, and securing a 3.77 ERA. He was the ASC Hitter of the Week, once, and made the ASC All-Tournament team.
 
Nannini (Fr., Katy, Texas) earned ASC Freshman of the Year and is a member of the All-ASC First Team. He led the team with a .418 batting average, which is third in the ASC, totaling 23 runs, 41 hits, with 26 RBI. He also added six doubles, one triple, and three home runs. 
 
Nathan Harmon, Joaquin Costa, Connor Massimini, and Aiden Leonard were also named to the All-ASC First Team.
 
Harmon (Sr., Flower Mound, Texas) recorded 27 runs on 28 hits with 22 RBI securing 10 doubles. He hit .301 adding a triple and three home runs.
 
Costa (So., College Station, Texas) earns his second All-ASC award as he was honorable mention last year and the ASC Freshman of the Year. He is batting .337 and has 43 runs on 60 hits with 35 RBI adding 13 doubles, two triples, and five home runs. 
 
Massimini (Sr., Fort Worth, Texas) is now a three-time All-ASC award winner being on the Second Team in 2024 and 2025. He has 52 runs with 55 hits and 52 RBI while producing 9 doubles, 13 home runs and a .377 batting average. 
 
Leonard (Jr., Kaplan, La.) gains his first ASC award and has a 7-0 record with a 3.67 ERA. He has only allowed 14 runs in 14 games with 42 strikeouts starting one game.
 
Cody Myers and Tyler Bogusz were named the All-ASC Second Team. 
 
Myers (Jr., Friendswood, TX) is 3-1 with 43 strikeouts and a 5.23 ERA in 43 innings pitched. He was also on the ASC All-Tournament team and the ASC Pitcher of the Week, once.
 
Bogusz (Sr., Frisco, TX) leads the team with a 3.33 ERA and is 4-2 with 28 strikeouts in 12 appearances and 46 innings pitched. This is his second All-ASC award as he was Second Team last year. He also made the ASC All-Tournament team.
