MARSHALL, Texas – Making a historic run in the NCAA Division III baseball postseason, East Texas Baptist University finishes the year ranked in the top 10 for three final polls. ETBU is No. 3 in the D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) polls and No. 6 in The Perfect Game poll. It is the second time in four years for ETBU to finish in the top 10.

Big wins for ETBU this season came in the NCAA Tournament as they broke Denison's 44-game win streak in the NCAA National Championship Tournament and then knocked off No. 10 Baldwin Wallace. Prior to that, the Tigers earned two wins over No. 2 Lynchburg in Virginia in the Super Regionals. Earlier in the year, they defeated then No. 18 Texas Lutheran.

D3baseball.com voted ETBU at No. 3 with 545 points coming in behind national runner-up Endicott (579 points) and national champion Denison (625 points). ETBU started the season ranked No. 25 but dropped out of the poll until week 10 when they jumped back in at No. 23. They then climbed to No. 15 before the NCAA Tournament started.

The ABCA put ETBU at No. 3 in their final poll with 658 points. They were in the top 30 all year starting at 26th and worked up to 20th in the May 12th poll before the NCAA Tournament. They jumped 17 spots to No. 3 after their postseason run.

In the final Perfect Game poll, ETBU is No. 6. Perfect Game also had ETBU ranked starting at No. 23 on April 22. They moved from No. 23 to No. 11 in four polls for their highest ranking of the season before the NCAA Tournament.

Teams ETBU played or defeated that are ranked or receiving votes in the final polls were Denison, Baldwin Wallace, Adrian College, Lynchburg, Belhaven, Rhodes, Concordia Texas, and Maryville.
