MARSHALL, Texas – Academic excellence continues for the 11
th consecutive year for East Texas Baptist University's baseball program under Head Coach
Jared Hood as they have been given the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award. ETBU finished with a team 3.55 cumulative grade point average and carried a 3.51 in the spring semester.
ETBU also had 39 players on the American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team and a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American First-Team selection in
Connor Massimini.
Tyler Bogusz was also awarded a NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship for $10,000 and was the NCAA Division III Elite Award winner at the National Championship Tournament.
This year brought 40 wins for ETBU finishing third in the nation. They won the ASC regular season and tournament championships along with the NCAA Division III Marshall, Texas Regional and Lynchburg, Va., Super Regional Tournaments.
To be honored for the ABCA award, teams had to meet the following criteria and is sponsored by Sports Attack:
- Must be a high school or college team
- Head coach must be a current ABCA member
- Team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale for the 2025-26 academic year
