MARSHALL, Texas – As the new women's soccer season starts, the American Southwest Conference has released the preseason poll with East Texas Baptist University voted to finish fifth. ETBU is in its third season under head coach Joey Petrich.
 
ETBU received 30 votes, finishing ahead of Schreiner University. Hardin-Simmons University is picked to win the ASC with 65 points and eight first-place votes. Mary Hardin-Baylor is second with 59 votes and two first-place votes, while McMurry University is third (47 votes) and has one first-place vote. Howard Payne gained 37 votes and one first-place vote.
 
Three student-athletes are on the ASC Players to Watch List in Paige Barclay, Audrey Hall, and Grace Shurley. Barclay played in 14 matches, starting 13, recording one goal and one assist for three points. Hall is an All-ASC First-Team selection as a defender and helped ETBU with seven shutouts last year. Shurley made the All-ASC Second Team as a midfielder and recorded three goals.
 
ETBU opens the 2026 season on Tuesday, September 1, at 7:30 p.m. hosting the University of Dallas.
