IRVING, Texas — Hitting .355 with 43 kills and 10 service aces, No. 13 East Texas Baptist University swept the University of Dallas 3-0 (25-15, 27-25, 25-13) on Tuesday. ETBU is now 11-3 and won nine matches in a row.
Katherine Server led ETBU with 11 kills, hit .563 and added two service aces.
Allison Sims also hit .563, finishing with 10 kills on 16 attacks.
Lara Hornsby recorded eight kills, nine digs and two service aces.
Sydney Temple distributed a team-high 12 assists and added three digs.
ETBU finished with 43 kills and hit .355, while Dallas had 31 kills and hit .188. The serving game also supported those runs, with the Tigers recording 10 aces against five service errors, compared with five aces and seven service errors for Dallas.
The Tigers took control of the first set with a mid-set stretch in which they won seven of eight rallies, turning an 8-6 lead into a 15-7 advantage.
Peyton LeJeune served two aces during that run, while Server and LeJeune added kills. ETBU closed the set at 25-15, with Hornsby recording a kill for set point before
Ava Bobnar's block helped force the final Dallas attack error.
ETBU answered Dallas' 25-24 edge by scoring the final three points to take the second set, 27-25. A Dallas error tied it, Sims followed with a kill from
Claire Stewart, and Server converted set point with a kill from
Heidi Wilson.
In the third set, the Tigers turned a 7-7 score into a 13-7 lead with six straight points on Server's serve, getting consecutive kills from Hornsby, two Dallas errors and two Server aces. ETBU had already answered an early 3-0 deficit to move in front, then added two Hornsby service aces during another push to 18-10. ETBU finished the set at 25-13 on a Dallas bad set.
