Earlier in that stretch, Schluter served the Tigers into a 7-4 lead, and Kreusler added two kills as ETBU kept Redlands from immediately answering. After Redlands worked back within 13-12, Server put down a kill, and
Heidi Wilson's service turn produced four straight ETBU points, including a Kreusler kill and a Wilson ace, to make it 18-12. Redlands later scored three straight to cut the margin to 18-15, but the Tigers responded with a Server kill and another run on Schluter's serve, capped by a Hornsby kill for a 22-15 lead. Kreusler's late kill brought ETBU to set point, and the Tigers closed the set 25-19 on a Redlands attack error.
In the third set, ETBU turned a 13-11 deficit into a 16-14 lead, with Hancock serving back-to-back aces before Schluter added an ace to complete the swing. The Tigers steadied themselves after Redlands scored the first two points, tying the set at 3-3 on a Hancock ace and later moving ahead 7-5 on an
Allison Sims kill from Schluter. Redlands answered to go up 13-11, but ETBU responded with serving pressure and then kept finding points through Riley, Server, Hancock and Sims. Hornsby and Hancock combined on a block to make it 22-18, and Hornsby later teamed with Kreusler for another block that brought the Tigers to set point. ETBU closed the set on a Redlands service error for a 25-20 win.
