Kyle Palmer

Kyle Palmer is in his sixth year as the pitching coach for East Texas Baptist University. Palmer brings coaching experience from NCAA Division I Texas A&M and NCAA Division III the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Last year, he coached two players that were named All-ASC in Kyle Loson (3rd team) and Logan Sprinkle (honorable mention). Sprinkle finished with five saves and a team best 2.86 ERA while Loson went 5-1 with a team leading 44 strikeouts.

In 2016, Palmer's staff finished fifth in the ASC in team pitching with a 4.94 ERA which was the best in his four years. Pitcher Ernest Perez was second in the ASC with nine wins and fifth in strikeouts (63). Jimmy Russo was then second in the ASC with 10 saves.

Palmer, a former catcher at Texas Lutheran University, came to ETBU after having served as pitching coach at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2012. Prior to that he worked two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Texas A&M, with a team and staff that won back-to-back Big 12 championships and advanced to the 2011 College World Series.

In 2012 as the pitching coach at Mary Hardin-Baylor his staff finished with an ERA of 4.46. UMHB ranked sixth in the ASC in team ERA and held opponents to a .276 batting average, which was also sixth in the league. UMHB pitchers ranked fifth in the league with 257 strikeouts and were third in the conference in fewest hits allowed (339).

Palmer is a native of Bremond, Texas,where he played catcher and third base and led the team to the 2004 district championship. He attended Texas Lutheran where he was a three-year letterman in baseball. He helped the Bulldogs to back-to-back ASC championships in 2006 and 2007. He was named ASC All-Academic in 2008 and 2009 and also was a member of TLU's 2009 ASC West Division championship team.

Palmer graduated from Texas Lutheran with a B.S. in Computer Science in 2009. He then moved on to earn a Master of Education in Educational Technology from Texas A&M in 2011.

He is married to ETBU admissions counselor Meredith Palmer.
