Tarence Calais

Tarence Calais enters his second season at East Texas Baptist University and his first as the defensive coordinator. He was promoted to the defensive coordinator in July after coaching the defensive backs. He will also be the special teams coordinator. This past summer, he was selected to be a part of the NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship and worked with the Washington Redskins. He is a 2010 graduate of Lousiana Tech.

2016 Defensive Highlights
  • Sam Williams signed and is playing in the CFL for the Sashkatchewan Roughriders
  • Defensive backs had 11 interceptions of the 14 on the team
  • Zac Biles led the team with four interceptions
  • Secondary produced 45 break ups
  • Two players were named All-ASC in Biles and Williams

NCAA Division II Coaching Experience
University of Texas – Permian Basin
  • Part of inaugural staff in 2015 season

High School Coaching Experience
  • Made stops as an assistant coach at Morgan City High School and Patterson High School.

Collegiate Playing Experience
NCAA Division I – Louisiana Tech
  • Played football at Louisiana Tech, where he was named All-WAC Defensive Back
  • Captained the Bulldogs to the 2008 AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl victory
  • Three-year letter winner (2007, 2008, 2009)
