Jordan Burchette

Jordan Burchette enters her first year as Head Coach of the ETBU Men's and Women's Golf Programs. Burchette has spent the past five years in West Texas serving as an assistant coach at Abilene Christian University (NCAA DI) and Hardin-Simmons University (NCAA DIII).

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Burchette to the Tiger Family as our new Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach. Throughout our search, it became clear that Jordan not only possesses the expertise and competitiveness to continue to elevate our golf program, but also a perfect match with ETBU's Christ-centered mission. I am confident that she will disciple our student-athletes daily, fostering spiritual growth while pursuing excellence on the course," Vice President for Campus Life, Ryan Erwin said.

"At ETBU, our goal is to develop champions for Christ both on and off the field of competition. In Jordan, we have found a leader who deeply understands that calling, is committed to servant leadership, and has a proven track record in golf, making her the perfect fit to guide our young men and women in the years to come.  We look forward to watching our golf program thrive under her Godly leadership," Erwin added.

Burchette comes to ETBU after one season as the Assistant Women's Golf Coach at Abilene Christian, where she had a student-athlete, Ryann Honea, make the NCAA Division I Waco Regional Tournament, recording her best performance in three Regional Tournament appearances. ACU finished second at the WAC Championships, missing the championship win by just 11 strokes and placed three golfers on the All-WAC Tournament team. The Wildcats won the West Texas Classic on March 2-3 and came in second at the Oral Roberts Lady Clerico Tournament.

"I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to become the next head coach at East Texas Baptist University. ETBU is a university I have always held in the highest regard for its commitment to excellence, faith, and the development of servant leaders. I am excited to lead this program to new heights and build a culture that reflects the university's values and mission. Most importantly, I look forward to investing in our student-athletes and helping them grow not only on the golf course but also as young men and women who will go into the world as Christian leaders. My family and I cannot wait to be a part of the ETBU community and get started," says Burchette.

She started her coaching career at Hardin-Simmons as a graduate assistant coach for men's and women's golf in 2021 and became the assistant coach in 2023. Her final year at HSU in 2024-25, for both the men's and women's programs, was among the program's best. The men's team had five top-three finishes, with one at the American Southwest Conference Championships. Two golfers under her guidance earned the ASC Fred Jacoby Male Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year award: Jonathon Hester (2022) and Anthony Browning (2024).

The women's program finished with six top-three performances and their first team title since 2018 with a victory at the Marlins Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va. In four years of helping the women's team, HSU recorded 12 top-three showings with a third-place finish at the ASC Championship in 2024. In 2023, she helped guide the team to its best round in program history, a 302, at the Alamo City Classic in the first round.

Her presence also helped the team in academics, as 19 women's golfers and 31 men's golfers were ASC All-Academic team members. In that time, 12 women's golfers were named to the WGCA All-American Scholar team, and seven men's golfers were GCAA All-American Scholars.

A Killeen, Texas, native, she was a four-year letterwinner for HSU from 2017-21, with six Top 10 finishes. She was the top women's golfer on her team as a senior and was named the ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year for women's golf. She earned three WGCA All-American Scholar awards and was on the ASC All-Academic team.

Burchette earned a Bachelor of Behavioral Science in Ministry (2021) and a Master of Science in Kinesiology, Sport and Recreation (2023) from HSU. She is married to Tyler Burchette.
