Chad Cox


Chad Cox enters his fifth year as the head coach for the men's soccer team after being the assistant for four years. The ETBU alumnus was a two-sport lettermen playing men’s soccer and baseball in his time as a Tiger.


2022 Season (7-7-3/2-5-2 ASC)

  • 7 wins ties most in Cox's coaching career at ETBU
  • 6 players earn All-ASC awards
  • 4 players earn CSC Academic All-District awards
  • 3 players earn ASC Player of the Week awards

  • Recorded three shutouts

2021 Fall Season (4-12-2/3-6-1 ASC)

  • ASC Tournament (#8 Seed)
  • ETBU made fourth straight ASC Tournament appeareance

2021 COVID-19 Spring Season (3-6-1/3-4-0 ASC)

  • ASC Tournament (#4 seed East Division)
  • First time ETBU has made three straight ASC Tournaments in program history
  • ASC Player of the Week (Gunner Barry; Feb. 16 - East Defense)
  • Stunned rival LeTourneau, 2-1, in 2 OT win
  • 5 players earn All-ASC awards
  • 14 players earn ASC All-Academic team awards

2019 Season (7-11-0/6-5-0 ASC)

  • Cox helped ETBU to their second straight American Southwest Conference Tournament appearance finishing 6-5-0. ETBU was the #6 seed.
  • ASC Tournament (#6 seed)
  • First time ETBU has made back-to-back ASC Tournaments in program history
  • Second straight winning record in ASC
  • ASC Player of the Week (Max Ponticorvo - Sept. 3, Oct. 28)
  • Upset reigning ASC Champion UMHB, 2-1, in Belton
  • Shutout rival LeTourneau, 4-0, to end regular season
  • 5 players earn All-ASC awards
  • 1 All-ASC first-team selection (Travis Atkinson)

In his final season as the assistant coach in 2018, he helped guide ETBU to their best season in over 10 years as they won their first-ever NCAA Division III post-season match in a 1-0 victory over the Ozarks in the ASC Tournament. They also had a six-match unbeaten streak which was the longest since 2000.

  • Graduated from ETBU in 2012
  • Assistant boy’s and girl’s soccer coach at Palestine High School for two years (2014-15)
  • Served as a Math teacher
  • Palestine High School advanced to the University Interscholastic League 4A Regional Finals (2015) and 4A Areas (2014) in his two years
  • Led the girls’ soccer program to UIL 4A Bi-districts (2015) and 4A Areas (2014)
  • Married to ETBU head women's soccer coach Kristin Cox
  • Has two sons

  • Earned All-ASC Honorable Mention as a senior defender
  • Played 59 matches in four seasons (2008-11) while starting in 47
  • Started all 18 matches in senior season
