Erik Solberg

Erik Solberg enters his third season as head coach of the East Texas Baptist University women’s soccer team. Last season, he guided his team to a program record 13-5-2 record and went 8-3-1 in the American Southwest Conference qualifying for the championship tournament.

2017 Highlights
  • Tallied a program record 13 wins
  • Hosted the opening round of the ASC Tournament against UTT
  • Upset NCAA DI Alcorn St. 4-1
  • Ashleigh Rondon was named the Offensive Freshman of the Year
  • Kibriana Bonner was named the Defensive Freshman of the Year
  • Kibriana Bonner, Heather Brady and Hannah Murin were all named to the ASC First Team
  • Recorded six shutout wins as a team

2016 Highlights
  • Six players earned All-ASC Awards
  • 10 players were named ASC All-Academic
  • Started the season on a five-match unbeaten streak (2-0-3)
  • Defeated rival LeTourneau University, 2-1, in overtime in Longview
  • Team posted six shutouts
  • Went 3-3-3 at Cornish Field
 About Coach Solberg
  • Graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2012 with a degree in Liberal Studies
  • Earned a Masters in Education – concentration Sports Administration from East Central University in 2015
  • Ran track and field at Ole Miss; also played club soccer
  • Finished up track eligibility at Southeastern Louisiana State University (2013) pursuing master’s degree
  • Assistant coach at NCAA Division II East Central University (2015)
  • Head boy’s high school coach at Ponchatoula High School (2013-14)
  • Volunteer coach at NCAA Division I Nicholls State University (2013)
  • Helped start FCA at Nicholls State University
  • Skilled violinist playing from 2009-11 with the Lafayette-Oxford-University Orchestra
  • Been a PA announcer for Ole Miss sporting events, play-by-play broadcaster for Nicholls State University, and the Rochester Honkers baseball organization
  • Member of the Buffalo Grove High School Athletic Hall of Fame (IL)
  • High School All-American in track and field
  • Finished 6th in 2000-meter steeplechase at 2007 USATF National Youth Track & Field championships
  • Member of the 2003 USATF National Junior Olympic team champion in cross country
