Steve Braun is in his second year as the Faculty Athletic Representative for the Tiger athletic department. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Sport Management in the Frank S. Groner School of Professional Studies in the Department of Kinesiology.  Previously, he served as a Development Officer / Assistant to the President at ETBU where he produced print, audio, and video materials to develop and execute fundraising initiatives for the Advancement Office. Additionally, Braun helped lead the first ever ETBU Give Day, a 24-hour fundraising campaign, that resulted in nearly 100 donors giving, including many first-time donors. He also wrote for the Hilltop magazine, produced and edited the East Texas Baptist University Tiger Alumni Podcast and the monthly Tiger Pride emails to alumni and friends of the University.
Prior to coming to ETBU, Steve was the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing for Muskogee Public Schools in Muskogee, Oklahoma. During his time there, the district completed a redesign to the district website and rebranding of the district’s primary, athletic, and mascot logos, in addition to marketing a $110 million bond issue in 2019. He played a crucial role in strengthening the district’s stakeholder relations through social media, website, publications, video production, and streaming initiatives. Braun served as the spokesperson for the 4,700 students and over 600 employees of the district.
Before his time in Muskogee, Braun served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Operations at Rogers State University from January 2014 to October 2015 and again from August 2017 to June 2022. While in that role, he managed the day-to-day internal operations of the athletic department, along with ticketing, athletic alumni relations, the Hillcat Network, and assisting with the Hillcat Club. He also coordinated game operations, marketing, and helped with implementing compliance efforts. He was a driving force behind the athletic department’s video streaming efforts, while also contributing to the Hillcats’ social media presence.
Outside of his duties in the athletics department, he served on the Staff Advisory Council, was a member of the Alumni Association board, and the Homecoming Committee.
From 2011 to 2014, he served as the Sports Information Director where he assisted in the publicity efforts and media operations for all of RSU’s sports.
Steve graduated from Rogers State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and from East Central University in 2014 with a Master of Education in Sport Administration. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Sports Management Leadership from Concordia University - Chicago.Â
