SAN ANTONIO – Playing its third match in two days, the 37th-ranked East Texas Baptist University women's team dropped their final match of their spring break trip to Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) College, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon. This was the third tough match for ETBU in just over 36 hours in San Antonio.
Closing out its competition at the Butch Newman Tennis Center, ETBU exits the Trinity (Texas) University Spring Break Invitational with a 9-2 overall record.
ETBU fell behind, 3-0, after Gustavus Adolphus won all three doubles flights. Later on in the singles action, ETBU earned its lone points in the No. 1- and No. 3-seeded singles matches. Nationally-ranked Kayla Casey won the No. 1 singles flight in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. In the third-seeded singles match, Kate Bramlett was a 6-1, 6-4 winner.
ETBU will play its next match on March 24 when it hosts Belhaven (Miss.) University for a 3 p.m. match.
