Box Score 2 AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 5-ranked East Texas Baptist University softball team claimed both ends of its doubleheader against host Concordia University-Texas on Thursday afternoon at Concordia Softball Field.
The final scores were 7-1 and 9-4, pushing ETBU to 20-4 overall and 13-1 in ASC games.
Game One: ETBU 7, Concordia-Texas 1
In the opener, ETBU scored a combined seven runs during its first three times to bat en route to a 7-1 victory. Batting second in the lineup, Linzie Lewis reached base safely four times for ETBU. She went 3-for-3 with a double, home run and a walk. Lewis also drove in three runs, scored twice and stole a base.
In the circle for ETBU, Raquel Tello (10-1) pitched a complete game for the victory. She scattered seven hits over seven innings and allowed one run.
Game Two: ETBU 9, Concordia-Texas 4
Trailing by a 4-2 margin after five innings, ETBU rallied with a combined seven runs in its final two turns to bat to win the nightcap, 9-4.
Lindsey Vasquez, Jayme Perez and Lacey Lindsey contributed three hits apiece for ETBU, which finished game two with 19 base hits. Vasquez batted 3-for-5, scored three runs and also stole a pair of bases. Starting pitcher Kelly Jo McLendon (7-3) won her seventh-consecutive decision in the circle for ETBU. She went five innings, giving up eight hits and four runs (three earned).
The teams close out the three-game series on Friday with first pitch slated for noontime.
