Box Score PINEVILLE, Louisiana – Traveling over the border to Louisiana for a key three game American Southwest Conference series against Louisiana College, the #11 East Texas Baptist University softball team delivered a shutout performance behind the dominant pitching of Raquel Tello and strong hitting to get the win 8-0 in only six innings. It was the fifth shutout of the year for ETBU as they moved to 25-6 and 18-3 in the ASC.
Leading the hitting barrage was Jayme Perez, who had two home runs for five RBIs. Lindsey Vasquez also had two hits and scored two runs along with Linzie Lewis. Tello went the distance with six innings pitched allowing three hits, three walks, and struck out one batter.
ETBU took the lead in the first with an RBI single by Lewis and an RBI fielder's choice by Alexis Padilla to make it 2-0. One inning later, Perez would hit a three run home run for a 5-0 lead. After two more scoreless innings, ETBU added another run on a double steal by Trina Deyo and Katy Hill in which Hill scored to make it 6-0. Perez would then deliver her second homer of the game with a two-run blast to make it 8-0. Louisiana College was unable to extend the game longer as they failed to score in the sixth.
ETBU and Louisiana College will play a double header on Saturday that starts at 12:00 p.m.
