MARSHALL, Texas – Two of the top two teams in the West Region were battling hard against each other until the weather suspended the match in American Southwest Conference East Division play. East Texas Baptist University is trailing #35 the University of Texas-Tyler, 4-3, when the match was suspended. They will finish the match sometime next week.
In doubles play, Texas-Tyler took a 2-1 lead as ETBU's Kayla Casey and Kate Bramlet won the #1 match, 8-4, for the first point of the match. Elizabeth Morton and Tiffany Stankiewicz fell in #2 doubles, 8-6, and then Jabree McClaine and Sierra Pizzaro lost the #3 doubles, 8-4.
ETBU took two points in singles play as Casey won the #1 match, 6-4, 6-1. Bramlett won the #3 singles, 6-5, 6-2, for the team's third point. ETBU fell in #2 singles, 6-4, 6-4, and #4 singles, 6-2, 6-4. The match will come down to the #5 and #6 matches to see who will take the upper hand in the ASC East Division.
