TYLER, Texas - Unable to keep pace with the University of Texas-Tyler, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team (4-7-1, 0-6) fell 4-0 to the Patriots. UTT scored two goals in each half in the American Southwest Conference match.
 
For nearly thirty minutes, ETBU was able to keep UTT off the. That changed when Lucas Pereira scored two goals in the span of eight minutes in the first half. ETBU was unable to get a shot off until eighteen seconds left in the first half.
 
The second half saw Pereira get a hat trick a minute and a half into the new period. UTT's defense caused trouble for the Tigers, who had three shots in the second half. The Patriots did add a fourth goal courtesy of Giovanni Castillo in the 44th minute. 
 
Outshot 13-4, the Tigers had shots by Landen Malone, Daniel Lopez, Jordan Burke, and Joel Botello with the former two having a shot on goal. Bryant Botello made one save. For UTT, Pereira had six shots total while goalkeeper John McGuffin made two saves.
 
ETBU will travel to Clarksville, Arkansas, to take on Ozarks at 3:00 PM this Saturday.
