#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_WS Extends Win Streak to Six Matches on Senior Day

MARSHALL, Texas – Honoring their seniors on a high note, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer extended their winning streak to six matches with a 5-1 triumph over the Belhaven University Blazers. ETBU is now 12-4-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the ASC as they hold onto fourth place.

The four seniors of Heather Brady, Kristi Freund, Shannon Jones, and Kendall Vogt were honored by starting the game for ETBU. The first thirty minutes saw both teams play tight while the Tigers had early chances to score. ETBU finally broke through when Ashleigh Rondon scored her tenth goal of the season over the keeper's arms in the 31st minute. Nearly ninety seconds later, Brady scored her first goal of the match off the rebound to make it 2-0 (33rd minute).

The second half was no different than the first as ETBU waited until twenty minutes in before Hannah Murin tallied her goal on the assist from Raegan Kappler (66th minute). Six minutes later, Brady added her second goal of the day to make it 4-0 on a shot from five yards out (72nd minute). Kalynn Hudman came into the game and scored in the 75th minute to make it 5-0 collecting her first collegiate goal. But the shutout ended when BU's Erica Rempel snuck one into the net and giving the Blazers a goal in the 76th minute. Even so, the game was already a forgone conclusion as the Tigers picked up the win.

ETBU outshot the Blazers 21-3 overall, including a 12-2 edge in shots on goal. Rondon led the way with seven shots overall. Claire Montondon had one save for ETBU. For the Blazers, Rempel, Lauren Smith, and Jessica Mahoney each had a shot on goal while goalkeeper Noelle Hill made seven saves.

ETBU will head out to Brownwood, Texas, for their next match against Howard Payne this coming Thursday at 1:00 PM.
