MARSHALL, Texas – Unable to respond from two second half goals, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team fell to LeTourneau University, 2-0, in American Southwest Conference play. The loss puts ETBU at 4-6-1 overall and 0-5 in the ASC.
The first half was scoreless with the two teams trading chances to score. LETU started in control with four shots in total. But for the rest of the half, ETBU was able to control the tempo in their direction as they fired seven total shots but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities.
The second half saw a change in momentum as LETU's Edgar Sanchez struck one from 20 yards out in the 61st minute. Eight minutes later, LETU would score off a rebound from Alec Wier. ETBU would have chances to get on the scoreboard but the goalkeeping of Miguel Cabrera shut out any chances and preserved the win for LETU.
Though ETBU was outshot 6-4 in the second half, they still won the shots battle by a 11-10 margin.
