JACKSON, Miss. – Jumping out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, #5 East Texas Baptist University finished their sweep of Belhaven University, 9-4, to improve to 5-0 on the year. ETBU hit two home runs in the game and a double.

Linzie Lewis and Katy Hill led ETBU with two hits as Lewis had three RBI. Perez and Hollingshead each had one hit, which was a home run, and two RBI.

Perez, who was the third batter of the game, gave ETBU the 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-run home run to dead center field. She brought in Lewis who had the first hit of the game with a single through the left side.

In the second inning, Emily HItt singled out to right center field as Hill came in. Kaitlyn Hollingshead then stepped up and swatted the ball over the left field fence for a 5-0 lead. Belhaven added their first run of the game in the third inning but the Hill made it 6-1 when she bunted in Heaven McDonald. Four batters later, Lewis cleared the bases earning three RBI with a double pushing the score to 9-1. Belhaven the added two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to make it 9-4.

Rocki Tello went five innings recording the win giving up three earned runs on seven hits. Jordan Anderson went one inning and then Perez finished the final inning with a strikeout.

ETBU will be back at home for their opening American Southwest Conference series on Friday, February 17, vs. LeTourneau University at 6:00 p.m.
