MARSHALL, Texas – Winning their third straight match over a regionally ranked opponent, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team held off Millsaps College, 6-3, in the home opener. ETBU had a 2-1 lead after doubles play and won four singles matches to take the win.
Starting off with a 2-1 lead in doubles, Kate Bramlett and Kaleigh Smith defeated Ashley Ford and Maggie Dabadie, 8-2 at no. 1 doubles. Tiffany Stankiewicz and Elisa Kendall then won the no. 2 doubles match, 8-1, over Rachel Beck and Jordyn Kanak.
ETBU then took singles matches one, three, four, and six. Bramlett won the no. 1 match, 6-2, 6-3, over Ford. Kendall then took the no. 3 match, 6-0, 6-1, over Kanak while Mullika Seekhieo won the no. 4 match, 6-0, 6-0, over Rachel Beck. Jabree McClaine finished off the scoring with a 6-3, 6-3, win at no. 6 singles over Tori Barbier.
ETBU will host Austin College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
