MARSHALL, Texas – Winning their fourth straight match, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team swept Austin College, 9-0. ETBU is now 2-0 at home this year and ranked 10th regionally.
ETBU started out with three straight wins in doubles play. Kate Bramlett and Kaleight Smith won 8-2 over Kirsten Weber and Grace Ortiz. Tiffany Stankiewicz and Elisa Kendall then won no. 2 doubles, 8-3, over Anna Sergiovanni and Katie Seibert. Jabree McClaine and Ashely Schenck took the no. 3 doubles, 8-1.
In singles then, ETBU won all six matches easily. Bramlett started off with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Weber at no. 1 singles. Stankiewicz followed at no. 2 singles, 7-6, 6-4, and then Kendall won the no. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1, over Seibert. Mullika Seekhieo won the no. 4 match, 6-4, 6-4, and Kellie Cawthon took the no. 5 match, 6-1, 6-2. McClaine finished off the points for ETBU with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Green.
ETBU will next play on March 3rd vs. Schreiner University.
