MARSHALL, Texas – Battling a top 20 Central Region team, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team won their 11th match in a row with a 6-3 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. ETBU took a 2-1 lead in doubles and then won four more matches in singles play.
In doubles, Kate Bramlett and Kaleigh Smith won 8-5 for the first point of the match. Tiffany Stankiewicz and Elisa Kendall then won the no.2 match, 8-7 (7-3), for the 2-1 lead.
In singles, ETBU won singles matches in no. 2, no.3, no.5, and no.6. Stankiewicz won the no.2 match, 6-4, 6-4, and then Kendall took the no.3 match, 6-3, 7-5. Mullika Seekhieo took the no. 5 match, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8, for the fifth point and then Kellie Cawthon won the final point, 6-4, 6-2, to win the match.
ETBU, now 11-1, will host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
