MARSHALL, Texas – For the sixth time this season, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team swept their opponent 9-0. ETBU defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor today at home for their 12th-straight victory, 9-0. ETBU improves to 12-1 this season.
ETBU started off with a 3-0 lead in doubles play as Kate Bramlett and Kaleigh Smith won 8-1 in no. 1 doubles over Ashlee Montgomery and Hope Nash. Kellie Cawthon and Tiffany Stankiewicz defeated Grace Igarta and Haleigh Johnson in no. 2 doubles 8-2. Jabree McClaine and Ashley Schneck won no. 3 over Shannon Kelly and Cameron Hagler 8-2 as well.
ETBU would drop only nine games over the six singles matches. Bramlett defeated Montgomery in no. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1. Stankiewicz won no. 2 over Nash 6-1, 6-0. Smith defeated Shannon Kelly 6-0, 6-0 in no. 3 match. Mullika Seekhieo won no. 4 match over Johnson 6-1, 6-3. Cawthon defeated Igarta 6-0, 6-1 in no. 5 singles. McClaine finished the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kelly Rose in no. 6 singles.
ETBU will be home again on Friday, March 31, when they host Louisiana College in ASC East play.
