Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University softball team fell in game three of the series against Concordia University 3-2. ETBU won the series, but could not complete the sweep as they fall to 20-5 overall and 13-5 in American Southwest Conference play. Concordia improves to 14-14 overall and 7-11 in ASC play.
Concordia would scrape a run across the plate first with an RBI single from Haley Dennett. Lacey Lindsey used an infield single in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1-1. Concordia would strike again on a two-run double from Katie Daniel to give the Tornados a 3-2 lead. Kaitlyn Hollingshead cut into the lead with an RBI single up the middle, making the lead 3-2 in favor of Concordia. ETBU would get a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh inning, but fell up short in the comeback.
Lindsey and Gabby Gonzales each had two hits to lead the ETBU offense. Lindsey and Katy Hill each had one RBI in the contest. Jordan Anderson was tagged with the loss after pitching 4.1 innings and allowing three runs on six hits. Rocki Tello pitched 2.2 innings in relief and only allowed two hits.
Daniel had three hits to lead the Tornado offense. Kayla Patton and Dennett each had two hits as well. Daniel led the offense with two RBI and Dennett added the other RBI. Lauren Camacho picked up her second win of the season to move to 2-0. Shelby Burrus added her first save of the season in relief.
ETBU will return to action with a two-game series against Birmingham-Southern College on Tuesday starting at 4:00 p.m. ETBU will then travel to the University of the Ozarks for a three-game ASC road series on Friday and Saturday.
