Game 1 – BSC 2, ETBU 1
It came down to the seventh inning and BSC brought in the go ahead run with one out. ETBU put a runner on with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't find the hit to bring her home and tie the game. ETBU finished with eight hits and left seven runners on base. ETBU had a chance to score early in the first inning as Vasquez made it to third with no outs but was left on when three straight batters went down in order with a ground out, strike out, and fly out. In the second inning, BSC took a 1-0 lead only to see it last an inning. In the bottom of the third, Lewis doubled in Vasquez to tie the game at one. ETBU would threaten in the fourth inning with runners on second and third and two outs but failed to bring in the go-ahead run.
Tello went all seven innings and received the loss striking out three batters. She is now 9-3 on the year.
Game 2 – ETBU 4, BSC 3
It was almost a mirror of game one but this time ETBU willed their way to a win scoring the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Perez hit a short fly to left field as Morgan Arst came steaming home diving in head first to beat the tag for the win, 4-3.
Perez was a perfect 3-of-3 with three RBI to lead the team. Five other batters had one hit each and Lacey Lindsey secured the other RBI.
BSC struck first with two runs in the first inning for the lead, 2-0. Perez would cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the inning on a single to left field as Lewis came in. BSC made it 3-1 in the third inning and looked like they were going to take control of the game. But ETBU fought back in the bottom of the inning.
Vasquez singled and then stole second base while Lewis walked. A double steal put both runners in scoring positon with no outs. Perez then laid down a perfect squeeze bunt as Vasquez touched home making it 3-2. Lindsey followed with her own sac bunt in back-to-back sac bunt style as Lewis became the tying run at three apiece. There was then five straight scoreless innings before ETBU won it in the bottom of the ninth.
ETBU's defense came up big in the top of the eighth inning when it looked as if BSC was going to take the lead. A double to left center field gave Lee third base and as she headed home it looked as though she would be the throw. But Arst to Hollingshead to Gonzales with a perfect tag ended the threat as ETBU made its way through the threat.
Hendrix came in for relief in the beginning of the second inning and pitched eight innings for her first win at ETBU. She only gave up one earned run with one strikeout.
ETBU travels to Arkansas this weekend to take on the University of the Ozarks in ASC play.
