MARSHALL, Texas – Pitching a gem recording a career-high nine strikeouts, #3 East Texas Baptist University's Jordan Anderson shutout Howard Payne, 8-0, in six innings for her third win of the year. ETBU moves to 14-0 and 9-0 in the American Southwest Conference after sweeping their fifth series of the year.

Anderson went the six innings allowing just three hits and had two walks. She struck out seven of the final 14 batters including retiring the final eight batters in a row. In that streak, she struck out the side in the fifth inning.

Jayme Perez went 3-of-4 with one RBI to lead the team with hits. Lindsey Vasquez, Linzie Lewis, and Gabby Gonzales each had two hits. Lacey Lindsey added two RBI while Lewis and Perez had one RBI. Gonzales hit her fourth home run of the year and led the team with three RBI.

ETBU put four on the board in the first inning to set the tone of the single game. Lewis gave ETBU a 1-0 lead on a double to left centerfield as Vasquez scored from second base. Lewis then scored on a throwing error from third base following a Lindsey fly out. Gonzales finished off the first inning with her home run that scored Perez to make it 4-0.

Gonzales earned her third RBI of the game with a single in the fifth inning as Morgan Arst came in for the 5-0 lead. In the sixth inning, Lindsey singled in both Vasquez and McKenzie Cain for the 7-0 lead. Perez then ended the game with a single to center field as Victoria Jetton came home for the eighth run.

ETBU will host #1 Texas Tyler on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Taylor Field in a battle for NFCA top five teams.
